When we think about loosing weight, most times, our minds jump straight to the gym—treadmills, weights, sweaty workout classes. But good news is: you don’t actually need a gym membership to see results. The little things you do every day: walking, cleaning, even dancing in your kitchen can burn more calories than you think.

It is referred to as: non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). All it means is the calories your body burns through daily activities that are not “formal” exercise. 

Why Daily Movement Works

Take for example, two friends: Sarah and Lisa. Both eat roughly the same meals. Sarah drives everywhere, takes the elevator, and spends most evenings on the couch. Easy Ways to Sneak in More Movement

Move during screen time. Stretch, do light squats, or march in place while watching TV.

Weight loss doesn’t have to feel like punishment. The gym is great if you enjoy it, but if you don’t, that’s okay. Start thinking less about “workouts” and more about simply moving your body more often. When you treat movement as something fun and natural, it becomes a habit instead of a chore.
